Mexican Seafood from the Mercado Crew

Maradentro.

Roughly translates into “your Ventura Boulevard patio for oysters with mezcal mignonette.”

Or something.

Yes, Maradentro, a breezy new perch for Mexican seafood with cold tequila chasers, opens tomorrow in Studio City from Mercado and Yxta’s owners. (See the slideshow.)

You’re entering a Craftsman-home-shaped restaurant. Two rooms full up on wooden planks, deep-blue chairs and oceanic art of the atypically attractive variety. It’ll all make you feel like the captain of a yacht washed ashore only to survive on a diet of bivalves and tequila. Not a bad one. (Here’s the menu.)

You could set up in front with drinking friends to share some oysters, lobster-and-bacon guacamole and crab-chorizo queso. There’ll be some happy hour energy in that little pocket between the bar and the high counter behind it. A margarita that’s colored like the ocean or a shishito-pisco cocktail would not be inappropriate right now.

But you’ll probably want to do filet mignon and lobster tacos and other dinnery-date things on the sidewalk patio, or inside, in the back, if there’s rain.

That wet stuff that allegedly falls from the sky sometimes.
