If Clover Club Were 54 Stories High

Look at it out there.

Rooftop-bar weather if ever you’ve seen it.

Heated, indoor, fireplace-having... rooftop-bar weather.

Enter Bar 54, the single highest rooftop bar in New York City. It’s now open atop the Hyatt Times Square.

So you’re near Times Square. We won’t ask why. We don’t want to know. But know that if you’re in desperate need of a solid nightcap, this is your salvation. It’s 54 stories above the earth—an indoor/outdoor land of sofa-filled drinking nooks and the kind of unobstructed views that normally cost eight figures.

Re: the drinks—Julie Reiner of Clover Club and Pegu Club is responsible for the cocktails here. So everything in a glass is legit. We suggest the Miracle on 45th St. (a pisco-grapefruit-lime-lavender-champagne reminder of warmer eras) or the Boat House Punch (basically lots of gin in a bowl; it serves three to four).

Re: the views—the word “majestic” comes to mind. You can practically touch the B of A Tower from the outdoor terrace. (You won’t, because we’re exaggerating.) That outdoor terrace is open right now, though (when it’s not snowing), thanks to the magic of fireplaces. And from there, it’s nothing but clear sight lines all the way down to FiDi.

And some stunning angles on Bubba Gump Shrimp.
