The weekend is the one who knocks.

UD - Huge News in the World of Ramen

Huge News in the World of Ramen

For several months now, out of their Whole Foods pop-up spot, Yuji’s been blowing minds with their ramen concoctions (including a bacon, egg and cheese version). Now, they’re finally making the whole operation permanent. So you can stop doing terrible things for tickets.

Now permanent, Yuji Ramen at Whole Foods Market, 95 E Houston St (at Bowery), 646-262-1358

An F.S.C. Barber Vet Comes to SoHo

Those hairs of yours: it’s like they just keep coming back. Fortunately, the F.S.C. Barber guys just opened these new digs. They’ve got a 600-square-foot outdoor patio for a waiting area and enough Juniper Ridge soaps to earn you the nickname “Sage Thunder.” Enjoy that.

Now open, Fellow Barber, 33 Crosby St (between Broome and Grand), 212-929-6014

It’s a Great Weekend to...

... kick it old-school. The Rodgers and Hammerstein Archives of Recorded Sound at the New York Public Library, in addition to having a really stellar name, are doing their first record sale since 1984. And yes, that means dusty B sides from the Kinks.

UD - A Whole Week of Rum

A Whole Week of Rum

There’s a name for upstairs bouts of Cuban music, dancing, rum-mixing classes and rum cocktails. That name is Rum Week. It’s happening at Cienfuegos, a place whose entire mission is to make you drink rum. And a worthy mission it is, too.

Aug 11-16, Rum Week at Cienfuegos, 95 Ave A (at 6th), 212-614-6818

UD - Wylie Dufresne, Making Crazy Cereal

Wylie Dufresne, Making Crazy Cereal

The Museum of Food and Drink may not yet have a permanent location. But it damn sure has a dinner where Má Pêche chefs do short ribs, Booker and Dax bartenders do drinks, and Wylie Dufresne and Andy Ricker make cereal fired from a cereal-puffing machine... Classic Dufresne.

UD - The Week in Openings...

The Week in Openings...

For your thirst: Cerveceria Havemeyer, a tequila-and-mezcal-first spot from the La Superior folks.
For your hunger: In the East Village, a longtime Nobu chef is perfecting kappo ryori and seasonal sake at Cagen. In the West Village, Piora’s taking over the old Goodwin space with Italian-French-Korean-American fusion. A natural combo if ever there was one.
