Now on Sale: Black Label Burger

City Burger enters the burger big time by nabbing Pat LaFrieda's legendary ultra-premium "black label burger"—spotted for months at tastings but never available over the counter until now. As of this Friday, $11 will get you five and a half ounces of the best ground beef in the city. Take LaFrieda's advice and order it rare, in a plain bun with no toppings. Lettuce is for quitters.

Fishtail by David Burke
FISHING

Fishtail by David Burke

This Upper East Side fish house wears its aquatic obsession proudly, from a menu offering black bass by the pound, an upstairs gallery of fish-themed art (including a Warhol print) and a sixteen-seat downstairs raw bar that stays open until the very friendly hour of one a.m.—the UES equivalent of four a.m.

135 E. 62nd St (between Lexington and Park), 212-754-1300, see the menu here or a slideshow here

Sunday
Sorella
DUCK FAT

Sorella

This cozy north Italian date spot blocks off its windows with wine racks (clearly their priorities are in the right place). Aim for the glassed-in courtyard in back for a bit of  starlight and a soon-to-be daily changing menu of meats and cheeses. For now, it's just small plates like Duck Fat English Muffin Bread. (Not a bad consolation prize.)

Serving small plates now, entrees begin Dec 15, 95 Allen St (between Delancey and Broome), 212-274-9595

Artbook at Den
GIFTING

Artbook at Den

The hipsters at Den are going bookish, partnering with the new and rare book mavens at Artbook to fill their space with gift-ready coffee-table items like Warhol's limited-edition "Red Books" and photography from William Eggleston and Richard Avedon, just the thing for any aspiring models you might happen to know...

330 E. 11th St (between 1st and 2nd Ave), 212-475-0079

ROOMING

The Standard Hotel Opens for Reservations

The massive MPD hotel that's been towering over Brass Monkey's roof deck all year is finally opening, at least halfway. Fifty percent of the hotel is still under construction, but you can get the rest of the rooms at "construction preview rates" starting at $195. Of course, the kitchen and gym aren't up and running yet, so you'll have to go without room service and your morning run—but as long as you're in a luxury hotel, you don't mind roughing it.

Taking reservations now for Dec 10, 848 Washington St (between 12th and 13th St), 212-645-4646
