Raising Arizona

Inside the New W Scottsdale

Finally, the heroic battle is over.

And while one contender prepares for his historic move to Washington, the other retreats to his Southwest corner.

Luckily for him—and more importantly, you—Arizona just got quite a bit more livable. Presenting: W Scottsdale.

Officially opened last month, the W ups the luxury ante in the Valley of the Sun with a glassy, sexy desert balm. After checking into one of the 224 rooms (all furnished with iPod docks, flat screens and thick terry robes), you'll want to make your way down to a chaise lounge near the pool, where a bikini'ed attendant from one of three poolside bars will make sure your cocktail glass stays in play. If you need a little privacy (or—gasp—a little less sun), retire to one of the thirteen private cabanas.

Just don't forget your massage appointment at the onsite Bliss spa (the first in Arizona), where you'll want to detox and de-kink with a nice long blissage 105, nearly two hours' worth of toe-to-scalp muscle-loosening and tension-busting (four words: warm wax foot wrap). By night, you've got reservations at the sleek and modern Sushi Roku (indoor or outdoor, your choice), followed by a DJ'ed club scene in the Living Room lounge, fast becoming the new home for the Scottsdale jet set.

Yes, there is one.
