Three Ways to Use the Burritt Room & Tavern

None 4 Photos Burritt Room & Tavern
A bar is a good start.

Put it inside a hotel, and things get interesting.

Add a chophouse to the scene, and nights out turn into lost weekends.

And everyone loves a good lost weekend.

Presenting the Burritt Room & Tavern, the sultry film-noir-esque culmination of a two-year endeavor to build a restaurant into the famed cocktail den, now open in Union Square’s revamped Mystic Hotel.

Below: a succinct primer on optimal scenarios when you might find yourself in need of this seductive lair...

When Whiskey Isn’t Enough
Until now, you’ve been fine with cocktails at the Burritt Room. Black-and-white floor, plush red stools, Maltese Falcon references. But instead of drinking dinner, you’ll now retire to the sleek dining room and dig into lamb shoulder that was braised for 36 hours, give or take a minute.

When You Need to Go Unnoticed
It’s inside a hotel. The drinks are good and stiff. They’ve got oysters. So far, everything you need for a well-fueled night. But there’s one more thing: curtained booths. Needless to say, one of the six discreet nooks will accommodate whatever level of privacy you and your paramour require.

When Only Room Service Will Do
Sometimes even a curtained booth isn’t private enough. That’s when you go straight for a suite. Included in the usual privileges of a hotel stay is room service from Burritt Tavern. You haven’t had slow-braised lamb until you’ve had it in bed.
