Palace Living in the Moroccan Desert

None 20 Photos Palais Namaskar
Spend enough time in the desert and you start to see things.

Oases. Talking shrubbery. Fat Elvis.

A verdant garden palace complete with turndown service and a hot-air-balloon landing strip in its backyard.

Presenting Palais Namaskar, a royal Moroccan resort where your view is of the Atlas Mountains and your room could pass for the Taj Mahal, taking reservations now and opening April 6.

This joint’s from the folks behind Hôtel du Cap (the famed French Riviera retreat where Hemingway and Fitzgerald used most of their vacation days). Figures, then, that they would construct one heck of an opulent hotel bar (think: open-air rooftop watering hole with panoramic views of Marrakech).

The whole place feels and looks like the kind of spot Rick Blaine would have gone to if he were into candlelit jacuzzi spa treatments, dune buggy racing and long lost weekends in ornate marble villas. Because that’s what you’re coming here for. Well, that, and the opportunity to kick up your feet in one of the property’s gold-domed palaces.

Of course, if you require more than a private castle with a heated swimming pool to feel unencumbered, you’ll be glad to know that your suite comes with a matching 14-seat jet.

The in-flight movie, however: Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.
