First, let’s talk New Year’s Eve: the Sleep No More crew is throwing an epic after-party at the McKittrick Hotel and you’re getting in VIP. Now, last-minute gifting: namely, this exclusive vintage Polaroid kit from the Impossible Project. And finally, beer: 45% off six of ’em, plus lobster guacamole. See you in 2012...
Things to do for December 22, 2011
Christmas at Eataly, Chinese Food and the Ainsworth Basement
The weekend is making a week of it.
Custom Suiting Under a Sports Bar
If you’re going to the Ainsworth this weekend for the games, here’s something to do during halftime: sneak into the basement for a new tuxedo. Yes, there’s an underground tailor shop down there now. Also, a billiards table, flat-screens and a fully stocked bar. You know, in case your fitting stretches into the third quarter.
Cleaning Up at A.P.C. This Christmas
You’re going to get some awful gifts this year (your great-aunt can’t help herself). But that’s why we have receipts. So you’ll return the reindeer sweater/coffee-table book about tugboats and turn the holiday profits into half-off wares (think fur-lined wool coats) from A.P.C. Santa would’ve wanted it that way.
The Nightmare Before Christmas
An alternative to spending the holidays with your family: a bunch of sickos known as Psycho Clan are operating a Christmas-themed haunted house. The setup: a deranged laboratory that’s doing experiments in fear. Expect lots of caroling.
Christmas Eve Dinner in Eataly
Well, what do you know... Eataly got you (and 199 other good little boys and girls) a Christmas present this year. They’re calling it the Eataly Holiday Dine Around. All six restaurants open just for you. All eight chefs cooking just for you. It’s the culinary equivalent of getting a pony.
Chinese Food for Christmas
For those sans Christmas tree on Sunday, Kutsher’s will be open for a “traditional” three-course Chinese food dinner. Included in the prix fixe: matzo ball wonton soup, steamed pastrami buns and sizzling skirt steak with Szechuan peppercorns. Finish with a fortune cookie. And a 10pm showing of Mission: Impossible 4.
