It’s as simple as this: it’s summer, and you need something to wear... So we’re hooking you up with Orlebar Brown’s expertly tailored, swim-friendly shorts and alfresco-ready polos. Plus, we’ve come up with the greatest Father’s Day gift of all time: monogrammed cufflinks (that happen to be fully functional lighters).
Things to do for May 26, 2011
Golf, Pool Parties and 25-Cent Mimosas
The weekend will see you in the finals.
TopGolf: Now in Allen
You’re familiar with TopGolf. The double-decker driving range. The endless buckets of beer. Your retired 9 iron on the wall. Well, the bowling-alley-style driving range has upgraded to a second location in Allen. Hey, the US Open doesn’t train for itself.
Speaking of golf, this weekend also continues the Byron Nelson, where you’ll float around the Four Seasons golf course, cold one in hand. Here you’ll stroll from the on-course caddy races to the massive pavilion field party peppered with beer stations. You might even see a little golf.
25-Cent Mimosas and a Thai Brunch
Step one: wake up. Step two: head to the West Village Thai kitchen. Here, you’ll grab a table on the patio, order up some Vietnamese french toast (made with banh mi bread) or eggs Benedict on a coconut biscuit, and—for this weekend only—sip on 25-cent mimosas. Those quarters have been burning a hole in your pocket.
Beer Gardening at Renfield’s Corner
It’s Memorial Day, so naturally we got you a gift. (We know. We shouldn’t have.) It’s a new beer garden/patio parked in front of Renfield’s Corner. And this Sunday, you’ll break it in with a DJ, canned beers and a complimentary koozie. Sorry we didn’t gift wrap it.
The Belmont Pool Opens for Summer
It’s almost here. You’ve been training for it all spring. Yes, a Dallas-based In-N-Out Burger. Also, pool season. And this Tuesday, the Belmont Hotel is taking the cover off their Austin-style watering hole with arguably the best poolside view of downtown. Alert your lotion girl.
