A Bocce-Equipped Pizza Joint on the Bay

What beer is to ping-pong, wine is to bocce.

And while a few wineries up north have the bocce thing down, there’s a noticeable dearth of wine-fueled stone throwing spots closer to the city... especially ones that involve wine popsicles.

Introducing Bar Bocce, an indoor/outdoor wood-fired pizzeria equipped with a regulation bocce ball court, waterfront fire pit, 12 wines on tap and... the winesicle, opening next week in Sausalito.

So, yes, this requires a quick ride across the Bay. But your reward is a mini vacation of lawn sports and fireside lounging—or what you’ll now call dinner.

Since it’s steps from a little sandy beach, you’ll get that salty, beachy feel that you start craving this time of year. And while the weather’s typically better over there, the fire pit as well as strategically placed heat lamps mean you can maximize your deckside lounging time even after the sun goes down. Then, wood-fired sourdough pizzas like the Dungeness Crab, Meyer Lemon & Avocado Crème Fraîche are on hand to make sure you maintain your strength.

All of this brings us back to the wine, which you can get by the glass or liter, and even by the cabernet-filled popsicle—what they’re calling a winesicle.

Good Humor, take note.
