This week, Perks is bringing you a chance to spend a day at the track, racing Audi’s sportiest machines around Infineon Raceway. Also: gear for the impending season between seasons with half off Steven Alan’s pre-fall collection. Finally, a weeklong membership and personal training session at Crunch, on the house. Because you only like to sweat in the presence of a live DJ.
Things to do for August 12, 2010
Blonde Quarterbacks, New Tacos and a Pub Crawl
The weekend is flourishing in two-a-days.
Free Wine at Veritas
Anytime you can get vino at the price of air, you’re a happy camper. So you’ll want to stop by your favorite first-date spot on Henderson tonight for a couple of hours of free wine sampling, from 6 to 8pm. Also known as a wine-drinking power alley.
The Green Room Is Back
Comebacks are never easy. But after a brief hiatus, the Green Room in Deep Ellum officially returns today, bringing you their signature “Feed Me, Wine Me” food and wine pairings, local music and a roof deck coming in the fall, just in time for breezy September happy hours.
As the heat box that is Uptown crosses into the triple digits, a few good spots on McKinney Avenue have teamed up for the only logical solution: a huge pub crawl. Starting at noon, you’ll traverse everywhere from Primo’s to Uptown Bar & Grill with other beer-drinking warriors. Officially it ends at 4pm, but we say keep going until you start requesting George Michael songs.
Blondes vs. Brunettes Football Game
If you’re ready for some hard-core girl-on-girl touch football action, you’ll want to head to the Highland Park football stadium on Saturday for the annual Blondes vs. Brunettes game (sorry, redheads). Post-game includes cocktails with the athletes, who are all cute young professionals in the Dallas area. Be sure to compliment them on their... sportsmanship.
Urban Taco Comes to Uptown
Soon, you’ll have a new addition to your arsenal of McKinney Avenue haunts... and it comes bearing mango mojitos. Also: jalapeño zucchini salsa, chili-rubbed pork tacos and a large garden patio for your outdoor feasting pleasure. Because sometimes chili-rubbed pork tacos need to breathe.
