The Diplomat’s New Restaurant Has Oceanfront Views, Ceviche and Tequila

And It’s Appropriately Called Playa

Bear with us while we provide you with yet another new restaurant at the Diplomat.

This one overlooks the ocean and has tequila and fish tacos.

Plus its Cinco de Mayo.

We didn’t think you’d mind, is all.

The timing is oh so right for Playa, the now open, al fresco, oceanfront lunch and dinner spot at that one hotel with all the other spots. Behold its many splendors here.

Duck out of the office early today and swing by with a few friends for some guac and La Palomas from the solace of the center bar. The sand will be steps away. The crowd will be just right. You will wake up tomorrow morning knowing that you won Cinco with nary a whistle-blowing bartender having poured tequila down your face from the bottle.

The upstairs infinity pool provides an overhang of shade should the sun get in your eyes and in the way of the beautiful words on this menu. It’s from the chefs behind Suenos and Rosa Mexicano, which explains the Nuevo Latino options like those fish tacos with pickled red cabbage, aji Amarillo and avocado.

And we mentioned it’s on the beach, right?

Cool. Just checking.

On a typical Wednesday, Ginger Harris is likely seeking reposado tequila, squeezing her way to the front of a concert or jumping on the back of an Indian motorcycle. That’s just Wednesdays, though.
