Cool Cousin: This new app you’re learning about today. Because learning is fun when it’s about curating recommendations from informed locals who are passionate about the places you’re visiting.

You can download Cool Cousin right now for iOS. Open it up and begin searching by the city you’re interested in. You’ll currently find Paris, Rio, Barcelona and Lisbon among your options. Under each city is a list of suggested “cousins,” a weird way of saying local experts with a deep knowledge of their municipalities, whose interests may match your own.

You’ll find interviews and bios for each cousin, as well as maps and recommendations they suggest. So you may choose to listen to Veronika in Prague. She dislikes her president but has some Vietnamese restaurants and vintage clothing stores she wants you to see.

Or Alexx in London. Yes, Alexx. He’s a tatted-up ambassador to some rum brand who wants to give you the password to a secret cocktail bar he knows. Depending on these people’s personalities and pastimes, you can decide whether to follow them if you think they’re dependable to guide your itinerary.

Plus, you can supposedly also write them directly to ask them just about anything.

Presumably about travel.
