Things to do for December 16, 2015
Home Alone, Sodikoff’s New Thing and Reindeer Burgers
Going once... going twice... sold, to the weekend.
Here Goes Sodikoff Again
A world-renowned latte artist spent years training Brendan Sodikoff’s staff before the opening of Sawada Coffee, which has Doughnut Vault donuts, scotch-and-honey steamers and a ping-pong table. In other news: apparently latte artists can be world-renowned.
Warhol. Koons. Jasper Johns. A Date.
The New Contemporary exhibit opened at the Art Institute this past weekend with 44 iconic works of
modern art. Here are some highlights:
—Warhol’s two self-portraits.
—The photography-based critiques of Cindy Sherman.
—Revolutionary pieces by Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns.
—Whatever crazy sh*t Jeff Koons made.
A little under four hours: the amount of time you and a date will spend watching Home Alone and Home Alone 2 at Thalia Hall’s double feature. A little under four seconds: the amount of time you legitimately considered pressing on to watch Home Alone 3.
Basically a Gift-Shopping Block Party
It was mid-December, and Santa was short on gifts. Fortunately, an elf told him about Late-er Night
Andersonville, when all the nice shops would have discounts on things for everyone on his list. Christmas
To be clear, you’re Santa and we’re the elf in this scenario.
Through December, the Butcher’s Tap will have a burger called the Rudolph. It’s made with Michigan farm-raised reindeer, cheddar, tempura jalapeños and a dollop of housemade tomato-and-bacon puree that bears a striking resemblance to a red nose. The most disturbing part of this news: Santa’s reindeer are raised in Michigan.
