Your Perks: 1) The no-bribe way to get prime-time reservations to the hottest restaurants in the city. 2) Limited-edition Dom Pérignon from Björk and her collaborator Chris Cunningham. This should be interesting. 3) Wireless earbuds made for working out with. Not working out with them is okay, too.
Things to do for October 14, 2015
Rooftop Parties, an Afternoon Dance Party and Stephen King
Swing and a weekend.
Found You a Nice Little Thai Spot
Today, in West Town: A sparse little urban Thai food spot is opening to serve you
lunch-friendly homemade pork sausage and fried chicken over garlic-ginger rice.
Tomorrow, wherever you may be: You’ll likely be hungry and thinking about what we just said. Well played, universe.
Mike Sheerin Saved Trinity Bar
Things were not going well for Trinity Bar. Then Mike Sheerin and a friend decided to rehab the place, install a cocktail den in the basement and create an elevated menu with things like mussels in blonde ale on it. Then things abruptly stopped not going well.
An Afternoon Dance Party at Daley Plaza
Some of the best dance parties happen when you least expect it. Like when you’re heading to lunch on a typical Friday in October and notice a soul-electronic DJ spinning some tunes outdoors in the Daley Plaza. Yeah. Exactly like that.
Like Prom, Only All Scary and Stuff
The Music Box is throwing a celebration of all things Stephen King this Friday. Show up early in your best ’70s attire for a Black Prom–themed cocktail hour before heading into the theater for a special midnight screening of Carrie. Stay late if you just sort of need a minute.
Your Weekend Rooftop Itinerary Awaits
Some fun stuff happening on rooftops this weekend...
Saturday or Sunday: Grab a date and hit the pumpkin patch/biergarten at Streeterville Social.
Sunday: The J. Parker’s throwing a Bears tailgate party under their retractable roof with Frito-spiced pork rinds and brats.
Join us next week when we talk basements.
