Burgers and Beer in a Rehabbed Sonic

For burgers, fries and shakes, try Sonic.

Sorry, scratch that.

For burgers, fries and shakes, try this crazy new space-themed hangout called Spork that just opened in North Dallas and used to be a Sonic.

There, that’s better.

Oh, and it comes to you from a team behind ventures like Smoke and the Foundry, so that bodes well for your general enjoyment of this place.

Now, take a look around. It’s fun inside. The retro-y red chairs, the UFO lamps above the bar and the grass crop circles behind the bar. There’s even a 10-player foosball table, which seems gloriously unnecessary and therefore perfect.

But since you’re probably here to eat and drink rather than simply notice decor and play fake soccer, know that the menu’s flush with build-your-own burgers, hearty sandwiches and kimchi fries. Plus shakes, floats and alcoholic things, too. Like good beer, wines on tap and a frozen orange-creamsicle cocktail. (Full menu, here.)

And coming in about a month, they’ll turn that outdoor space into a 150-seat patio with a bocce court, a putting green and ping-pong.

So you can go ahead and cancel that gym membership.
