It’s that someone basically imported the whole damn state to M Street.
It’s called Second State, it’s the best way to experience Pennsylvania without getting on I-270, and they’re now taking reservations for an October 21 opening.
This is in the former Mighty Pint space, but you wouldn’t recognize it with all the whitewashed brick, old Pennsylvania hunting licenses and moody chandeliers across the two levels. (Here’s the menu and here’s the slideshow.)
Now, there’s a lot of stuff to check out. Namely:
- Thirty different ryes. White ones. Brown ones. Pennsylvania ones. Get ’em neat. Get ’em with a big block ice cube. Just get ’em.
- A cozy nook for two at the downstairs bar. Nice place to share a cocktail like the Keystone Whiskey Sour (rye, amaretto, cider reduction, egg white) and small plates like bison meatballs and cheddar pierogies.
- Game. Like roasted pheasant, coffee-rubbed venison and tea-smoked duck. Grab one of the giant booths for six upstairs and share them all.
