Things to do for October 02, 2014
Models, Ghostbusters and Where to Watch the World Burn
The weekend will miss you, Hot Doug’s.
Going to the zoo after dark can only mean one of two things: you’re a cat burglar who likes double entendres, or they’re showing a double feature of Ghostbusters and The Shining. If it’s tomorrow night, it’s probably the latter.
A Nonstop Mac-and-Cheese Thrill Ride
Your unerring sense of adventure has led you to some interesting places. So it stands to reason that it should also lead you to a place where about 50 restaurants are all competing for your favor by serving you endless mac and cheese. God does that ever stand to reason.
You know about the inaugural Chicago Fire Festival spectacle happening this weekend. But you may not know
the best place to view the madness. Hence:
1) River Roast: Riverside seats + Cinnamon Toast Crunch–flavored horchata spiked with rum.
2) Rebar: Good views + Mrs. O’Leary’s Smoked Wagyu Sliders.
The more you know.
Models and Parties and Models
Akira is hosting a fashion show with food from Strings Ramen and Umami Burger, plenty of cocktails and many, many models strutting around on the runway. After that, the party heads to Japonais. Then the party heads to Underground. And at some point, you’ll also see new clothes.
You know mfk, that tiny Spanish-inflected seafood spot on Diversey that everyone’s talking about. Well, it would like to show you another side. A side with beer. A side with buffalo-wing-style cobia collars. A side that’s grilling outside at Sportsman’s Club this weekend. It’s a pretty good side.
