A New, Hyper-Local Date Spot on H Street

None 4 Photos DC Harvest Kitchen & Bar
People say you can never have enough date spots. And people are right. Because people are smart. Sometimes.

So here’s DC Harvest Kitchen & Bar, the new farmhouse-looking place for dates and such, opening Tuesday on H Street from a Hank’s Oyster Bar and Vidalia vet. (Take a look right here.)

They’re really into the local thing, so don’t expect a lot of exotic Alpine liqueurs and fish from the Mediterranean. Instead, expect six beer taps from the DC area. And a New-Fangled cocktail with orange, grapefruit bitters and Catoctin Creek rye.

When you move on to dinner, you’ll be picking from steak from a farm north of Baltimore with salsa verde, or Chesapeake oysters with watermelon mignonette, or daily specials like fried chicken whose breading is spiked with Old Bay.

One more thing: you’re going to have this stuff in a two-floor former Tae Bo studio decked out in wood beams and cool lighting fixtures everywhere. If you’re planning ahead, get a table next to the second-floor windows. Or for casual first-date applications, just take a seat at the marble bar on the first floor.

Same goes for casual second-date applications.
