Things to do for July 17, 2014
Boxing. Burlesque. Bottomless Brunch. We Ran Out of B’s.
The weekend really satisfies.
An Intelligentsia with Big Beer Dreams
There’s a new Intelligentsia in town. This time in Wicker Park. Oh, and while the barista labors over your latte, take notice of those tap handles behind him. The plan is to start pouring coffee-beer microbrews out of them by fall. We just wrote the words “coffee-beer” in real life.
Goodbye, Webster’s. Oh, Hello Again.
After 20 years of first dates, good wine and bread pudding, Webster’s Wine Bar is leaving Webster Avenue for the greener pastures of Logan Square and the old Telegraph space. So good news: looks like another 20 years of first dates, good wine and bread pudding ahead.
Boxing and Burlesque. This’ll Be Fun.
This is an evening where Chicago Boxing Club members will dress up in vintage boxing gear and duke it out, Jack Dempsey–style. Interesting. Also, burlesque performers will burlesque. Comedians will crack wise. And you will dance to old-timey music. It’s all happening separately, though. Otherwise: total chaos.
Brunch. Bottomless Mimosas. Scram.
Hey, the Tour de France is going on. You should go ride bikes. That, or do this other French thing with 90 minutes of bottomless mimosas and your choice of entrée like pain perdu, croque-monsieur and other stuff you should say with a stupid French accent.
You vs. an Obstacle Course in the Dark
You seem like you’re up for a challenge. Here’s a race that involves you running through an obstacle course full of mud pools, ravines and tunnels in the middle of the woods. In the dark. But glow sticks, beer and a bonfire will be involved, so you’ll probably be fine.
