Things to do for February 27, 2014
Burgers, Oscars and Playing with Fire
And the Oscar for Best Live Action Weekend goes to...
A Dedicated Nut Dispensary on Charles
Beacon Hill just got its very own nuttery. Which is just fancy talk for a new place with roasted nuts, wasabi peas and semi-exotic nut butters like pistachio and pecan. One man’s Portlandia sketch is another man’s real-life nut shop.
Another of These “Hamburger Places”
It’d be great if Florida sent us their weather. But they can’t. So they sent us one of their burger joints instead. It’s called BurgerFi, and it’s got (among other things) a burger with hash browns and a fried egg called the Breakfast All Day Burger. Most important burger of the day.
This new Fire & Ice festival in Union Square sounds like a good excuse to get a bunch of ice sculptors, fire spinners and an ice-cream-sandwich truck together in one place. So that’s what’s going to happen. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your day.
Oscars Time Again. You’ll Be Here.
On Sunday night, some thespians will see their life’s dream hang in the balance. You will watch them while consuming caviar-topped deviled eggs and sipping cocktails named for Best Picture nominees. Like the Pineapple Captain Phillips or the tequila-laced Wolf of Wall Street. Keep your cocktail acceptance speech short.
Live Crawfish Were Flown In for This
Something’s up at the Hawthorne on Tuesday. Let’s investigate the details:
1) Sazeracs and gin fizzes in fountain-like quantities.
2) Po’boys and muffulettas.
3) Live crawfish flown in from New Orleans.
4) The presence of an entire brass brand.
A Mardi Gras plot if we’ve ever seen one.
