Things to do for February 13, 2014
Sticky Rice, The Princess Bride and Hockey
Love is in the weekend.
Sticky Rice Gets a Sibling
Sticky Rice, the Thai food cult favorite, opened a 55-seat second location. It’s BYOB like the original, but fair warning: the menu is only half as large. That means you’ll only have 125 or so items to choose from rather than the original 250. But we think you’ll find something you like.
His Name Is Inigo Montoya...
We have it on good authority that your valentine’s absolute favorite André the Giant picture is The Princess Bride. As you’ll remember, it concerns romance, adventure and Mandy Patinkin. If those three things don’t set the mood, it’s probably hopeless.
Watch Hockey in a Niles Bar at 6am
You have a couple choices on Saturday morning:
Option A: Sleep.
Option B: Get up super early, go to a neighborhood tap house in Niles, have a few Bloody Marys and watch the USA take on Russia in Sochi.
Correct Answer: B.
A Post-Valentine’s Butcher Shop Soiree
This eccentric little mixer at the Chop Shop is for lovers... of meat: it involves cocktails, three live rock bands, a few stand-up comedians and, of course, four butchers making pork sliders, meatballs, goat skewers and beef heart. The most romantic offal we know.
Partying: Now an Olympic Event
Strap on your luge for this one: an Olympics-themed party that promises giant beach balls, stilt walkers, interactive painting walls, photo booth judging panels, DJs, dancing and a cash bar. You’ve been training for this your whole life.
