Imperial Rule

A Bar That Smells Like Burgers and Happy

None 6 Photos The Imperial
Bars come and go.

Actually, allow us to rephrase that.

Bars come and you go.

Especially when spicy cranberry wings and black-eyed pea dip are on the table.

Unearth such delights at The Imperial, a simple little pub with beer and burgers and other things you’d expect from such a place, hoping to open Saturday in Oakhurst.

So about the name: it’s an ode to the old car. Which is pretty fitting, seeing as how this place used to be an old gas station. Also, that explains why there’s an oil pump cover on the floor, leftover rafters in the ceiling and the faded remnants of the words “Lubrication 75¢” on the exposed brick wall.

Head in around midnight-ish with a group and suss out your options. Booth. Bar stool. Wherever, really. There’s more important sussing out to be done with the 16 taps (New Holland Mad Hatter, Abita Turbodog...) behind the zigzagged wooden bar. Which was made from a 150-year-old edifice in Macon. Which, you know, conversation.

Oh, and in about a month, go back for... trivia. Yep. One of the owners is a trivia DJ.
