A Glass-Walled Pasta Emporium on the Water

Yeah, we know: about 567 new restaurants have opened this year. And yes: by now you’ve seen it all.

But maybe not this: plates of gnocchi and lasagna with waterfront views. Right, not many of those.

Meet Osteria Morini, a new Italian spot from Michelin-starred New York chef Michael White, opening tomorrow near Yards Park.

Maybe you’re taking a date to ice-skate nearby. Maybe you’re really into kayaking in frigid water. At any rate, you’re near the Southeast Waterfront. And you’re hungry.

Well, here’s some pasta. And lots of it. But first: a table. If they’ve got one near the many windows... take it. If not, head for the bar and bide your time with a Passione Arrabiata, made with lime, passion-fruit puree and tequila infused with Calabrian chilies. Or maybe one of their house beers, like a lager brewed with oregano or a stout brewed with fernet herbs.

Then on to egg-laden, hand-cut pasta like truffled ricotta ravioli and lasagna verde, along with prime NY strips cut for two and whole grilled fish.

And when the temperatures rise again, you can get even closer to the water by posting up in their 100-seat pavilion outside.

Gondola sold separately.
