Things to do for August 08, 2013
Belly Dancers, Donut Ice Cream Sandwiches and Lumberjack Battles
O Weekend, Weekend. Wherefore art thou Weekend?
You Just Got a Downtown Papagãyo
A surplus of midday tacos and margaritas downtown. That’s something that doesn’t really have a downside to it. Neither does the fact that Max & Dylans in DTX just morphed into a shiny new Papagãyo. Made-to-order guacamole. Eighty tequilas. It’s all happening there. You may proceed.
Observing Lumberjacks in Battle
Weekend road trips tend to be super. But you need a reason. Ah, here we go... lumberjacks. Lumberjacks are your reason. They’ll be chainsawing things and competing against each other in ways they probably shouldn’t. Bonus: pig races and a demolition derby. Maybe don’t wear an ascot.
Not That You Ever Get Hangovers...
There are mornings. And then there are mornings-after. Local 149 would like to address the latter with their new Recovery Plan menu. It’s got things like carafes of Gatorade with Bantam cider. And something called the Lobster MacMuffin with bourbon bacon and lobster knuckle meat. Happy putting-those-in-your-mouth.
Donut Ice Cream Sandwiches
The post-brunch donut craving. It’s real. And it’s really real when Union Square Donuts creates a donut ice cream sandwich consisting of Toscanini’s vanilla ice cream, chocolate and caramel. And donuts. You can stop looking at us now.
Midriffs. Fire Juggling. Brazil.
And speaking of Union Square, that’s where all the belly dancers, fire jugglers and Brazilian BBQ will be this weekend. It’s this street food festival thing they’re doing. They’ll even have an eight-foot tiger head there. It’s been ages since you’ve seen a good eight-foot tiger head.
