This week, you’re getting 25% off swimsuits, ties and other warm-weather gear from Lake Como’s Mitchumm Industries. (Clooney’d be proud.) Plus: framed letterpress prints of whiskey, pork and other refined essentials from the Southern gents at Bearings, and majestic, hand-painted animal heads from White Faux Taxidermy. Your walls deserve Perks, too.
Things to do for March 21, 2013
Bourbon, Skee-Ball and Fast Bartenders
The weekend is now in full bloom.
Penthouse Bourbon and a DJ Throwdown
Things start off easy at this dark little perch’s new weekly party. That is to say, with you holding a glass of bourbon and listening to some acoustic rock. By night’s end, however, you’ll be rocking hard to various DJ sets. Though bourbon will still be there for you.
Getting Down with Some Fab 5 Freddy
In early ’80s New York, anything was possible. Break dancing. Scratching. Fab 5 Freddy. Kangol hats. Unless you were there, it’s hard to explain. So this CD-release dance party for Change the Beat: The Celluloid Records Story lets you make up for lost time.
Dinner parties are great. You get to wear that dinner-party attire. You get to drop a few well-timed bons mots. You get to eat. In this case, Asian fusion. Then there’s an after-party. Okay, frankly, that’s the main reason to throw a dinner party.
Lady bartenders make the best martinis. Wait, no. That’s sexist. Anyway, here’s the point: you’re going to be doing a lot of drinking at this competition to crown the fastest female barperson in Chicago. It’s an open bar. Refills should be quick.
The March Madness of Skee-Ball
Early warning. The first 64 people who register for this skee-ball tourney will be able to compete for free Bulls tickets and, of course, glory. But mostly for Bulls tickets. Though that’s not to say you couldn’t get an office bracket pool going and win something there, too.
