Things to do for February 21, 2013
Fried Dough, Sports and Oscars Bowling
The weekend is never played off the stage. Never.
Downtown Just Got a New Sports Bar
Southie’s Stadium Sports Bar (and its menu) just moved into the old McFadden’s space with an overhauled audio system that handles bands and DJs, a 90-inch flat-screen overseeing an army of smaller ones and Boston sports swag all around. This is eerily similar to your basement.
Make Your Own Margaritas at Faneuil
Friday: National Margarita Day. And if you meet up with some desperados at Mija Cantina in Faneuil Hall, four bucks will get you bartender-poured tequila and triple sec to combine at will with your chosen puree (watermelon, raspberry and mango) from their make-your-own-marg bar. Note: raspberry is the manliest berry.
Cinquecento: Now with Brunch
Storm’s comin’ again. You should stay indoors. Especially if indoors means trying Cinquecento’s new brunch (ricotta fritters, sugar donuts, steak and eggs) and sipping morning cocktails. Go ahead, have one Bellini or pepperoncini-kissed Bloody Mary for every inch of snow Mother Nature has planned for us.
Bowling and the Oscars. Oddly harmonious when paired. Kings knows this, so they’ll have the awards show on their projection screen and HDTVs, nominee-themed drinks (Lincoln = Kentucky whiskey, lemonade, pomegranate juice) and a free year of Netflix to whoever picks the most winners. Oh, also: you’ll be in your PJs.
Fried Dough. Bully Boy. Tuesday.
Learning the distilling process of Boston’s Bully Boy is on your proverbial list. Enter: Trade, where the co-owners will lecture while pairing three libations like their white whiskey, grapefruit and mint Bully Day with three appropriate small plates. Hint: fried dough with parmesan and prosciutto. Everything goes with fried dough.
