Sushi MiKasa vs. St. Regis Sushi Lounge

None 11 Photos Sushi MiKasa and St. Regis Bar & Sushi Lounge
Sushi: the time is now. Mostly because we’ve got two new beachside hand-rolling spots opening within days of each other. But also because... no, that’s actually it. Okay, great, let’s have them fight and declare a winner. Behold, Sushi MiKasa (left) vs. St. Regis Bar & Sushi Lounge (right).

The Celebrity Factor
Sushi MiKasa: It’s owned by Jonathan Cheban. You... maybe know him as that guy who’s always with Kim Kardashian (no, not the leather-skirt-wearing rapper, the other guy).
St. Regis: Nobody famous owns it, but it’s the St. Regis, so expect celebrity clientele.
Edge: Push. You’re all about the fish. Period.

The Setting
Sushi MiKasa: It’s inside the Shelborne. It’s deco meets Vegas. It’s... well, you guessed it, covered in blue velvet, black wallpaper and gold.
St. Regis: The sushi lounge is located inside the hotel’s wine vault and adjacent to an outdoor, ocean-view patio.
Edge: St. Regis. Location, location, location.

The Rolls
Sushi MiKasa: The order: hamachi with jalapeño. Fried oyster roll. And tuna-and-truffle-sauce pizza. Okay, fine, “pizza.”
St. Regis: Can’t go wrong here. But if you want to go really right: tempura-fried shiso leaves with fresh tableside-grated wasabi.
Edge: Push. But double-check our work just to be safe.

The Drinks
Sushi MiKasa: Sake-based cocktails like the Geisha Spritzer with rhubarb foam and strawberry.
St. Regis: Nightly champagne sabering. By a samurai (kidding).
Edge: Sushi MiKasa. Just remember, it’s all fun and games until someone sabers an eye out.
