TASTE OF CHICAGO

The End Is Near. Have Lobster Now.

The distinguished gentlemen of Chicago Cut Steakhouse have anchored themselves to a corner of Streeterville with the Local Chicago. They’re serving... everything: Dr Pepper BBQ baby backs, oysters, shrimp chili, prime-beef burgers and lobster in many splendid incarnations, including the underappreciated quesadilla. Nice work, men.

Champagne. Caviar. Repeat.

Champagne. Caviar. Repeat.

Life is full of danger. Like when you mismatch your champagne and caviar in the wrong company. Let’s keep you sharp. At this four-course caviar-and-champagne dinner, learn lifesaving information like which Grand Brut goes with lobster deviled eggs topped with white-sturgeon caviar.

A VERY BARD YEAR

A Shakespearean New Year’s at Acadia

Last year, Acadia sent a live marching band through the dining room at midnight. Theatrical, yes, but not theatrical enough. This year, it’s transforming into an enchanted winter forest with Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s puckish costumed performers in supporting roles. Foie gras, champagne and caviar play the leads.

Taking reservations now for Dec 31, 6pm, $150; 9pm, $175 (includes wine pairings); Acadia, 1639 S Wabash Ave, reserve at 312-360-9500, see the menu

Stephanie Izard Wants to Bake You Bread

Stephanie Izard is opening that cool diner of hers... soon. In the meantime, she offers an appetizer of sorts, Little Goat Bread. Stop in for coffee and pastry in the morning, or after work, a whole baguette to take home for supper. Bicycle and beret not included.

BEERY CHRISTMAS

Drinking the 12 Beers of Christmas

Christmas beers. We’re not quite sure why they exist. We are just glad they do. (We feel the same way about Santa Claus, incidentally.) This Bridgeport drinking refuge will feature a different one each night until Christmas. Basically, it’s an Advent calendar that gets you buzzed.
