A Buckhead Bruncheteria with Hamburger Waffles

Today, you woke up.

(You’re reading this, so we feel pretty confident in making that assumption.)

Then you brushed your teeth, showered, begrudgingly put on pants and had something average to below-average for breakfast.

Something that wasn’t a medium-rare hamburger on top of a sourdough waffle.

Oh well. There’s always tomorrow.

Take a look at Buttermilk Kitchen, a bright and welcoming restaurant with some interesting ideas about what constitutes an acceptable breakfast/brunch, open as of today in North Buckhead.

This is sort of like the chef-driven version of your grandmother’s house (if that chef were a comely 20-something blonde who won Chopped). Framed recipes on the wall. Lamps made out of baskets. A sunroom full of two-tops. A bunch of floral-print couches covered in plastic. Okay, no, that’s a lie.

What you’re going to want to do is come here for rib-sticking sustenance after a late night and before a long day. To do that, you’re probably going to need flank steak and eggs. Or blueberry cobbler pancakes. Or those aforementioned hamburger waffles with maple syrup and house butter.

Unless it’s a Tuesday. In which case you might want to skip breakfast altogether and try their reservation-only, BYOB fried-chicken dinner (it’s starting later this month). You bring the wine. They’ll fry up the birds.

Seems like a fair trade.
