Things to do for February 23, 2012
Tater Tots, Burrito Ninjas and New Ramen
The weekend’s tweets are often hysterical.
Lunch Just Got More Ramen-y
Ramen. It’s all the rage (see: Guchi’s Midnight Ramen). Which is why Myers + Chang have begun serving it at lunch; theirs is a shrimp and tofu ramen with fermented tofu broth, scallion butter and farm egg. Warning: bringing this back to the office may cause a lot of jealousy.
Oscars are this Sunday. You could get in the Hollywood mood by placing your hands in the nearest wet patch of cement. Or head to the Paramount Center’s 100-seat screening room for the 1933 classic musical Moonlight and Pretzels. No, it doesn’t star Billy Crystal.
Burrito Masters Square Off. You Eat.
You’ve always wondered how regular people would stack up against the master burrito slingers at Anna’s Taqueria. Okay, that’s a lie, you’ve never wondered that. (They’d lose, obviously.) Still, Wednesday is your chance to see those two sides square off, and then eat the results. Results = dinner.
A Peek into the Future. Of Whiskey.
The Hawthorne knows the future. Of a limited-production, barrel-aged, cider-vinegar-infused white whiskey from the local Bully Boy Distillers, which will be released later this year. On Wednesday, you’ll sample it on its own and in some cocktails, along with some passed bites. Which will hopefully be infused with cheese.
Celebrating Leap Year with Tater Tots
Leap Day. Best celebrated by either running amok through the city in a day of calendar-confusing anarchy, or, say, heading to KO Prime, which is commemorating the anomaly by offering bar snacks like tater tots, Philly cheesesteaks and pulled-chicken sliders for just $2.29. We suggest door number two.
