Things to do for November 23, 2011
Rooftop Campfires, $1 Champagne and Wrestling with Billy Corgan
The weekend is impervious to the effects of tryptophan.
Camping on a Roof. With Vodka and DJs.
A blazing fire. A warm fur blanket. A DJ. That should be about all you need for the Black Wednesday party at Vertigo tonight. But since they’re hosting it on their rooftop deck, you’ll also know the thrill of roughing it just like the first pilgrims did.
A Black Wednesday Trolley Crawl
Frontier has campfire s’mores. The Pony has an appearance by the Blackhawk Ice Crew girls. Lottie’s has karaoke. Now to make an appearance at all of these important functions: a complimentary trolley. It’s sort of like the CTA, but stocked with gratis beer and rum.
Putting a Holiday Dollar to Good Use
Your Black Friday plans are locked down. But if the past is any indication, they could use a little more champagne. So four Loop bars (Midtown, Primebar, Grillroom and Townhouse) are offering $3 cocktails, $2 beer and $1 bubbly all day. Which, obviously, calls for a toast.
The best wrestling on Black Friday: obviously any lingerie sale. The next best: obviously with Billy Corgan. Resistance Pro, the Smashing Pumpkins front man’s new indie wrestling organization, launches its debut throwdown. Next year: Andrew Bird’s Christmas Kickboxing Tourney.
Christmas Tree Shopping with Whiskey
The only thing better than a Christmas tree lot that delivers, sets up, picks up and recycles your tree: a lot that does that and is right in front of Big Star. Which reminds us: Big Star’s serving Mexican hot chocolate with bourbon in it. So... go.
