Pop-A-Shot and Mountains of Wings in Tenley

The 2010-11 NBA season has now been consigned to history. Just like LeBron’s 2010-11 championship aspirations. And Newt Gingrich’s 2012 presidential aspirations.

Which means you’ll need something to entertain yourself. And we think staging an epic Pop-A-Shot tournament over a mound of wings is a nice place to start.

So say hello to Public Bar Tenley, a two-level, 28-TV behemoth now open to bring your sports bar experience into the open air.

Now, you may have been here in the space’s former incarnation as the Dancing Crab. You may have even heard of its soft-opening a few weeks ago. But now its full menu is in place and two of its three outdoor spaces are ready to roll.

By all means, you should start in the downstairs dining room, where amid wall-sized vintage photos of cheerleaders and locker rooms (but not cheerleaders in locker rooms, sadly) you can order up old-school deck-oven pizza and pretzels that come with cheese, mustard and a shot of beer.

Soon, however, you’ll be pulled upstairs, where another bar awaits, along with skee-ball, shuffleboard and Pop-A-Shot. And when you get tired of the sound of your own swishes, you can step out to the back patio for a Mountain of Wings, a bucket of beers and deep-fried, bacon-wrapped hot dogs.

Just make sure you set the high score before the AU students come back.
