See, for this summer (and this summer only), the barren, steel-girder-shaded space below the High Line’s newest section is being transformed. Support beams have been ripped down and repurposed as a 350-seat outdoor taproom. Lunch trucks have been sequestered by Tom Colicchio and rounded into a movable food court. Urban wastelands have been altered into art installations that look exactly like World 1-1 from Super Mario Bros.
For you, this all amounts to a temporary public plaza where you’ll conclude strolls up the High Line with a celebratory Taim falafel, a top-loaded Red Hook lobster roll and a Brooklyn High Line Elevated Wheat, a new beer made from only New York ingredients.
