Things to do for March 25, 2011
Sake, Candlelight and Tom Hanks
The weekend devoted a chapter of its autobiography to you.
Denim Sale at Haberdash
You outgrow them. They shrink. You rip them. Somebody else rips them. Whatever your reason: you’re due for some crisp new denim. Haberdash is offering one-third off its entire inventory (Edwin, Nudie, Rag & Bone) this weekend. Breaking them in is always the fun part anyway.
Four Courses and Sake at Chizakaya
There’s only one way to detect that it’s actually spring: the increased presence of spring sake menus. So let us point you toward this four-course feast of scallops, crab-encrusted salmon and fried Japanese ice cream with optional pairings. You can hear the birds chirping already.
Eighth Annual Tom Hanks Day at Fizz
Oscar winner. Icon. Excuse for drinking $1 PBR. Tom Hanks is all of these things. So celebrate the human half of Turner & Hooch at this tribute featuring Hanks comedies, Hanks T-shirts and Hanks-autographed raffle items, including DVDs, posters and volleyballs. Apparently, Wilson needs work these days.
Earth Hour at Elate
You could commemorate Earth Hour by sitting at home, shutting off the power and lighting a candle. But you’re probably not serving a $33 Chef Week prix fixe menu (scallops, Wagyu, carrot cake), so you might as well do your environmental activism at Elate.
Food Drive at the Publican
If you have some canned food burning a hole in your pocket, check out this afternoon charity soiree. The Publican and Hannah’s Bretzel will provide pork rinds, aged ham and pretzels; Three Floyds beer will help you wash them down. A pretty fair trade for your creamed spinach.
