Things to do for December 16, 2010
Sexy Santas, Caviar and a Mustache Party
The weekend is making a list, but just giving it a cursory glance, so you’re all good.
You demand certain things from your burger. The Hammer of the Gods dinner has those things: grass-fed beef topped with bacon jam, porchetta, cheddar, a fried egg and bourbon-chicken liver pâté on a pretzel bun. It’s a bit much, but you’ll have plenty of beer and whiskey to wash it down.
Your face has opened doors for you. Well, maybe not literally—unless, of course, your hands were full carrying drinks at the time. It’s a talent you’ll need this weekend when any man, woman or walrus sporting a little facial fuzz gets vodka drinks for just a buck at Schoolyard.
Running of the Santas in the Gold Coast
You love a wholesome holiday pageant. But you’ll take an unwholesome one in a pinch. Welcome to an all-day melee of Santas running amok in the Gold Coast at this annual pub crawl. Plus, you’ll vote for sexiest Santa. Yes, you’re ready for that bowl full of jelly.
Fat Rosie’s Opens in St. Charles
They’ve conquered the Mag Mile with Purple Pig. They’ve given Little Italy a kick in the meatballs with Davanti Enoteca. So Scott Harris and Jimmy Bannos’s next project: a St. Charles taco-and-tequila joint, naturally. It’s the Big Star of the Western suburbs.
Blackbird Chef Commandeers Chalkboard
The lauded chef of Blackbird is flying the coop to open his own place next year. Here you’ll get a preview of what he’ll be doing with braised pork belly, pumpkin churros and Scotch eggs and caviar. You knew caviar would be big in 2011.
