Things to do for October 07, 2010
Lingerie Models, Day Trips and Johnny Cash
The weekend will meet you at the finish line.
The Most Photogenic Town in Indiana
Like all great moments in cinema, this one starts in the back room of a café in LaPorte, Indiana. There, a cache of 18,000 photographs of the townsfolk was discovered. The curiously compelling photos were released as a book—and now it’s a documentary movie (named: LaPorte, Indiana), showing tonight. Here’s hoping they didn’t ruin the book.
Country Music (and Beer Buckets)
The Southern has a lot going for it. The grits. The beer. The sense that at any moment a jug band could hop on the bar. Until that happens, make do with some Cash, Jennings and the occasional Urban at their new country night. Plus, beer buckets to help you through the Urban.
Skinny Bow Ties at the Tie Bar
Lately, you’ve been thinking you could change up your neckwear. But because an ascot isn’t something you just jump into, start with skinnier bow ties, now available in 80 patterns from your friends at the online tie emporium. Think of it as gift wrapping your neck.
Boys’ Night Out at the Denim Lounge
You need a new pair of jeans. No, seriously. You do. And by the way, the Denim Lounge is having a party with 25% off jeans, Half Acre beer and, oh, models wearing lingerie. See, we told you you need new jeans.
A day trip to Harbor Country is its own reward. But when you get to New Buffalo and find a fall fest in full swing with barbecue, local microbrews and, yes, hayrides, consider it a bonus for all the other stuff you didn’t get rewarded for.
