Found You Some Dumplings and Frozen Sapporo in the Mission

Today’s a good day to check out Bon, Nene. It’s a new café and restaurant with delicious Japanese things like gyoza, chicken karaage buns and frozen Sapporo. All of the other days should work just fine, too.

Now open, Bon, Nene, 2850 21st St (at Alabama), 415-872-9332

Marianne’s Is Back. It’s Also Better.

You’ll recall Marianne’s, the handsome members-only bar behind a bookcase at the Cavalier that recently closed for a bit. Well, it’s back, and now you can go there whenever you want for things like rye-scotch-vermouth cocktails and smoked trout dip. Which is decidedly better than not being able to do that.

MESSENGER SERVICE

Sometimes Bags and Skee-Ball Get Together. This Is One of Those Times.

You should get a new messenger bag or backpack. Partly because you just... should. But mostly because Timbuk2 is throwing a party in their factory store in the Mission with Fort Point beer, skee-ball, food and music. And messenger bags. And backpacks.

Friday
There’s a Beer from 1989 in Here

There’s a Beer from 1989 in Here

Drake’s Brewing. Fine local establishment. And as fate would have it, they’re throwing a 27th-anniversary party on Friday with tastes of original beers from 1989, new releases, rare barrel-aged beauties and live music. Fate is a funny thing.

Saturday
Hello, Festival of Rum

Hello, Festival of Rum

Rum: having a moment. Has been for a long time now. So it should come as no surprise that the California Rum Festival is happening this weekend. Martin Cate and Jim Meehan will be there. Unholy amounts of rum will be there. And you. You’ll be there, too.

Lauren Sloss

Lauren Sloss requires a climate that allows her to wear motorcycle boots daily. She likes her bourbon neat and her martinis dirty, and would like to be the lead singer of a punk rock band when she grows up.
