United we weekend.
Why would somebody want a briefcase (or weekender bag) made from waterproof fabric with leather handles? Because sometimes it rains when you’re heading into the office. And sometimes you just need to play hooky and take a spontaneous Wednesday morning trip to the beach.
Since you’re spending so much time at the beach right now, Maré figured it’d go and open a location in Santa Monica. That way you can try some of Eric Greenspan’s new dishes like egg shakshouka and crispy octopus. Good figuring, Maré, good figuring.
Gus’s Fried Chicken finally made its way to LA from Tennessee. Which is good timing. Because eating golden chicken with white bread and fried pickles is basically your patriotic duty this weekend.
Jeans are accepted everywhere. Still, if you’re seeking the kind of jeans that make other jeans look just like, you know, jeans, go check out the vintage denim and clothes at Lot, Stock and Barrel. You can even do it in West Hollywood. Because they’re there now.
There are worse places to be than Santa Barbara this weekend. And even worse than the Fess Parker’s new wine tasting room across from the beach. Or inside Bacara’s new Angel Oak, eating oysters and dry-aged steak while staring at the ocean. Places called everywhere else.
This weekend, the Den on Sunset debuts Sunday brunch with a fresh look connecting an upgraded interior with their still-great patio. They’ve got completely new menus, too. Which means you get to eat prosciutto-and-cheddar donuts now. God bless this nation.
