Drop what you're doing and get yourself to Siren Studios, where new classics from Steven Alan are, at this very moment, being unloaded on the cheap—quality button-downs are all just $65. Bonus: on-site parking.
Things to do for November 13, 2009
Grilled Cheese, New Roots and Poolside Ping-Pong
The weekend missed you.
Problem: you want a tree for your living room. Lights, the whole thing. But you don't really want to cut one down. Or tie it to your roof. Or brave the freeway. Solution: this new company will deliver your very own tree to you, roots and all—then take it back and replant it until next year when it's yours again. It's green in more ways than one.
Before your next meeting at CAA, head back to the new den of photo culture out on the esplanade. Surrounding yourself with Walter Iooss's and Neil Leifer's shots of sports greats from Ali to Jordan to whoever's holding this surfboard should give you all the confidence you need to slam-dunk your Hoosiers-meets-Twilight pitch.
Ping-Pong Tourney at the Standard
Saturdays at the Standard just got a little more competitive—Ping-Pong tables are rolling out for DJ-backed tournaments with free entry. Prizes for the champion include dinner for two or a free night's stay. Presumably in some kind of table-tennis VIP suite.
The Big Cheese at the Yard
Now manned by a Top Chef alum (it's CJ), the kitchen will turn its attention every Tuesday night to that singularly stunning ingredient known as melted cheese. The weekly rotating specials include the inaugural Crispy Fried Cheese Curds to be dipped in Tomatillo Apple and Bacon Crème Fraîche sauces.
