Gain access to the inner sanctum of artisan cocktail making—from the distillery to behind the stick—as former Cyrus bar-star Scott Beattie and St. George/Hanger One's master distiller team up to show you a thing or two. As you'd expect from a good hands-on mixology class, drinking is highly encouraged.
Things to do for August 13, 2009
Gremlins, Wild Boar and Make Your Own Cocktail
The weekend is swimming with the sharks.
Wild Boar Foraged Dinner at TBD Locale
Six courses of fully foraged wild food, featuring a roasted acorn and mushroom-fed pig, Wild Nettle Fritters and Albacore Tuna Crudo, will taste good just about anywhere. So you'll be at the ready when the rendezvous is revealed—with a few bottles of organic cabernet, of course.
If you're down at Pebble Beach for the Concours d'Elegance looking for a change of pace, stop at the Concours d'LeMons (as in lemons). Instead of Ferraris and Bugatis, you'll tour the likes of Pintos, Pacers and Gremlins with awards for the Most Dangerous and Most Effluent. It's so bad it's good.
Parkside Tavern Opens in Outer Sunset
For those times when you find yourself way out in the Avenues with the ocean in full view, you'll want to know about this neighborhood pub stocked high with whiskey and beer. Toss in fish and chips, bangers and mash, and cottage pie, and it's enough to turn you into a regular.
After Myth Café closed, your weekday lunches haven't been the same. But starting Monday, Naked Lunch promises to fill that void. Walk up to the window next to Enrico's and order from chef Ian Begg's daily-changing menu. Try the Fried Chicken Sandwich, washed down with a Lychee Limeonade. Or continue to suffer through your usual lunch in silence. Your choice, really.
