You know those movies you’ve been quoting over and over since the dawn of existence? The ones you’ve watched way too many times? Well, we have a few posters from those classic comedies autographed by their stars. Stars like Will Ferrell, Mike Myers, Chevy Chase, Cheech... and Chong.
That whole winter solstice thing is going on right now. Meaning the days are short, the nights are long and you probably deserve a cocktail. Preferably a warm one made with tea-infused mezcal and molasses, which you’ll conveniently find at El Techo’s solstice party tonight. Huh. Look at that.
When you think “holiday double feature,” we’re going to guess that Gremlins and Trading Places aren’t the first films that come to mind. All of that changes tonight at the Castro, where said movies are being screened in honor of this week’s festivities. All of it. It all changes.
There will be hot toddies. There will be whiskey ciders. There will be a thematically appropriate sweater or bow tie. There will be mistletoe in the photo booth. Basically, there will be a lot of things at the Dorian’s holiday party. You should go, if only for the things.
Two gifts for you: Una Pizza Napoletana and Rintaro serve lunch now. Una’s features their immaculate pies, including a holiday special topped with escarole, olives and raisins. Rintaro’s features three teishoku lunch sets that have lately been filled with prawn and scallop dumplings, pork katsu and sashimi. Sorry we forgot to wrap them.
Industry of All Nations, an LA-based shop with things like alpaca sweaters, madras shirts and other garments of a comfortable nature, is now open on Hayes. You’ll like what they have and should wear a lot of it. We would go on, but there’s probably no need to go on.
