Things to do for July 06, 2016
A Rooftop Pool Party and Ice Cream for Dinner. Timely.
Weekend like an Egyptian.
Eat Dinner Before This Art Show
Animal chef Vinny Dotolo put down the foie gras and biscuits to curate a 38-artist group show. Expect sculpture, paintings and multimedia pieces dealing with food and LA living. And a reception tomorrow, where Dotolo makes bone broth and you drink cocktails. Not that you’d go just for that.
Always Double Down on Gyros and Pie
Friday shall be an important day for handheld foods. Because the Halal Guys are opening their Koreatown location for white-sauce-y gyros. And Pie Hole is spawning a Hollywood location and doling out 250 gratis mini-pies once the doors crack. Handheld foods needed this.
The Roof. The Roof. The Roof Is Underwater.
You’ve got your carpools. And your office pools. Then you’ve got your rooftop pools atop the W Hollywood where you’ll hang out every Friday with white Negronis, DJs and everybody around you swimming until 2am. That last one is the kind of pool all these words are about.
Keep On Rocking in Century City
On Saturday night, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros will headline the first night of KCRW’s Sound in Focus series in Century City. Admission is completely gratis and open to anyone who RSVPs. Which, coincidentally, was your cue to RSVP.
Eight Courses of Ice Cream. You Earned This.
Years ago, you made a wish. Next week, it comes true. An eight-course dinner with ice cream inside every dish. Chef Kyle Schutte is preparing things like pork belly with lemongrass ice cream and sushi rice ice cream to go with uni. You merely had to believe.
