Things to do for May 11, 2016
Prince, Fleeting Burgers and Some Light Falconry
Weekend on board.
“Let There Be Happy Hour.” —SM Yacht Club
Santa Monica Yacht Club just got into the happy hour game. So now you’ll come in and find specials on daiquiris and oysters and Andrew Kirschner’s new fontal-topped cheeseburger. Then you’ll probably do something crazy like sit there and enjoy them.
Instant Gratification. Without Your Phone.
See you at Impossible Pop-Up Shop’s launch party tomorrow. It’ll be packed with instant cameras and film, and it’s the only place where you can get the I-1 featuring Polaroid’s old format. Show up, have a beer, see some art and get an 8-by-10 portrait taken. Then Instagram it for no reason.
A Taco Great Goes Full Burger
Revolutionario Tacos was recently named “LA’s Favorite Taco” of 2016. So they’re revolting by making burgers. They’ll serve six featuring grass-fed beef and halal lamb, plus a signature burger with chicken schmaltz onions. Get them before they run out. Otherwise, tacos.
Prince Meets Michael Jackson. You Dance.
There’s going to be a massive dance party in honor of Prince and Michael Jackson at Downtown’s Resident on Saturday. It’s already sold out, but there will be 50 tickets available at the door. So maybe show up early. So maybe show up really early.
Your Expertise in Falconry Begins Now
You’ve been meaning to take up falconry in your leisure time. Well, now you can learn the basics on Catalina. You’ll wear one of those big gloves, watch soaring falcons hunt and have a bird of prey take off and land on your arm. It’s a good look for you. Probably.
