Your Perks: 1) Rugged briefcases, weekenders and messenger bags made of canvas. Give it up for canvas. 2) Soft button-ups that are practically begging to be worn to a rooftop date. 3) Handbags from Céline. Yes, this is the kind of thing Mom might want. Okay, definitely wants.
Things to do for April 13, 2016
Pappy. The Halal Guys. Goats. Weekend.
One bourbon, one scotch, one weekend.
Tonight: Pappy and Dominoes at the Dorian
Now’s probably a good time for us to tell you that the Dorian is kicking off their new Bourbon & Bones series, wherein you play dominoes and sip $6 pours from their excellent whiskey collection. And tonight they’ll have Pappy on a first-come, first-served basis. So maybe come first.
For Your Poke and Hot Pot Needs, Respectively
Lunch: Poke bowls and a sushi burrito at the new I’a Poke on Church Street.
Dinner: Slow-cooked bone broth hot pot at Fondue Chinoise in North Beach, with everything from beef to lamb to frog legs to instant noodles for dipping.
That was your lunch and dinner plan, by the way.
Off to Filson to Drink Fernet. Naturally.
Fernet Francisco, purveyors of locally produced fernet, are having a little get-together at Filson tomorrow night, where you can try their second barrel-aged bottle (aged in Seven Stills Chocasmoke casks), along with their herbaceous original. It’s a fernet tasting. In a retail store. Which you can’t make up.
The Halal Guys Are Headed Straight for Your Desk
The Halal Guys all but invented the NYC food cart line. And while they’ll be opening a few locations in the Bay soon, we should mention that you can order their meaty, rice-y, white-sauce-y goodness for delivery through Caviar right now. Which you’re already in the process of doing, so that’s good.
Considering the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market is already a Saturday go-to, you’ll be pleased to know that this Saturday, there’s a goat festival. Yeah. With cheese, demonstrations, baby goats and all. There may or may not be Goatchella shirts available, too. Just... thought you should know.
