Things to do for October 14, 2015
New Donuts and the Return of Beacher’s Madhouse
Look, weekend, no hands.
Beacher’s Strikes Back
Your Hollywood nights have been noticeably short on champagne-pouring little people flying out of cuckoo clocks. That changes tonight, when Beacher’s Madhouse starts previews of its new debauched vaudeville show back at the Roosevelt. Just in time for... anything requiring that.
Direct Your Wine Dates Here
Not sure what you did this time. Must have been remarkable. Or maybe the universe just randomly spawned this cozy Echo Park wine-and-beer roost called Bar Bandini for all your low-lit, knee-brushing date needs. Only the universe knows.
Kelly Slater’s new label, Outerknown, has all these nicely designed jackets, sweaters and button-downs for your hypothetical fall. And the entire collection is now nicely arranged among its first shop-within-a-shop at Downtown’s Wittmore. Ah, jackets. Remember jackets?
First, Oysters. Then, Tacos.
October 17. You’ll forever remember it as the day you began by eating oysters and fish from spots like Fig, Herringbone and Jolly Oyster on the pier, and ended at Downtown’s Taste of México with a Guerrilla taco in one hand and a michelada in the other. Can’t wait for the film version.
Portland Brought Donuts
Portland’s a donut town. We’re a donut town. So it only makes sense that on Monday, they’ll give you gratis donuts at a preview of Blue Star, maker of brioche donuts topped with stuff like bourbon-infused blueberries. We’ll give them more TV series making fun of their enviable work/life balance.
