Argentine Small Plates and Libations on Tap

Dodgers swept the Giants.

You’re getting three days off.

And when the dust settles, you’ll have an Argentine date spot with mate cocktails on tap to return to.

Life is officially all right.

This, friends, is Barcito, a fetching Argentine hideaway for dates who expect nothing less than a fetching Argentine hideaway, opening Tuesday in Downtown. (Drink it in right here.)

Come inside. The walls are wrapped in black-and-white photos of Buenos Aires landmarks. It’s like virtual reality with better empanadas.

You’ll shortly feel a strong pull toward that nice bar arcing through the room’s core. Don’t fight the feeling. There’s wine and Yerba Bravas (mate, vodka, mint and lemon-honey) flowing through the taps. It’s a good bar. A good, good bar.

And there’s lots of potential for activity here. After-work fernet and Cokes with friends and some chimichurri-braised short rib on the not-small front patio. Draft stone-fruit sangria and a shared plate of smoked-chili-garlic shrimp at a table for two under faux Boca windows. Post–Staples Center for a final beer with those nice strangers you laughed with during the game.

Tell the one in the sunglasses you loved About Schmidt.
