Things to do for June 18, 2015
Hugh Acheson’s Coffee Pop-Up, Rosé Flights and Lynyrd Skynyrd
It’s hard out here for a weekend.
In Case You Like Art and Lynyrd Skynyrd
Sometimes the drummer from Lynyrd Skynyrd drums. Other times he paints acrylic portraits and various European landscapes. This is one of those other times. Tonight, you’ll take a date to his exhibit, drink some gratis wine and try to remember/forget that he’s also the drummer from Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Hugh Acheson’s Coffee-Pop-Up Thing
Hugh Acheson will soon have a coffee shop at Ponce City Market. But for now, he has a one-day-only pop-up coffee shop in a newsstand just inside of it. They’ll serve until it’s gone tomorrow morning, so arrive early, say hi and then be glad you did all that.
Hundreds of Old-School Arcade Games
This weekend, there’ll be a gigantic hotel ballroom in North Druid Hills filled with over 200 old-school arcade and pinball machines all set to free-play. And the hotel has a restaurant, which means this’ll probably be the most dry-aged New York strip you’ve eaten while playing Dig Dug.
Rosé Flights, Anyone?
Where there are Saturdays, there are patios. And where there are patios, there are flights of four different kinds of rosé. And where there’s rosé, there’s accompanying charcuterie and cheese. At least that’s what Vine and Tap thinks. Great thinkers.
Cigars. Bourbon. Patio. Dad.
On Sunday, grab Dad and take him to Smoke Ring. Order something like a half-rack or BBQ shrimp and grits. And a couple bourbons. Because those bourbons come paired with cigars that you’ll puff in tandem while sitting on the patio. That’s where you’ll give him his new cufflinks.
