Your Perks: 1) A colorful collection of slim-fitting Jared Lang shirts. Because spring is a season that’s happening now. 2) Gordie Howe, Martin Brodeur and other hockey greats signed their jerseys for you. You can thank them never. 3) Exquisite, Swiss-made watches you could gift for Mother’s Day. Or keep for yourself.
Things to do for April 23, 2015
Dollar Oysters, a Hat Bar and So Much Japanese Beer
Cut. It. Weekend.
Dollar Oysters and a Secret
Dollar oysters are happening at Ichi, with IPA and wine specials. While you’re there, ask about the week’s secret off-menu offering. We’re not saying it’s jidori egg salad on Acme rolls, but we’re not saying it isn’t, either.
Movie Night, Every Night. For a While.
First, you will opening-night-party tonight at Madame Tussauds. Unless, first, you’re seeing the Steve Jobs doc, then hitting the party. Lots going on at the San Francisco International Film Festival this time around. So it’s your call, really.
Two Nights of Wine in Calistoga
If you’re up for Friday night tastings from 30 wineries: Great. That’s happening at
Solbar. Also, pork belly tacos.
If you’re up for more the next day: Saturday, there’s a whole bunch of gatherings at Stags Leap District wineries with BBQ. Paella. Tri-tip. You should be covered.
A Hat Bar and a Brass Band
There you were, standing at a hat-customization bar. You had a drink in your hand, and someone was talking about the Kentucky Derby. There was a brass band. It was kind of... strange. It was kind of... a party. You were in Goorin Bros. That’s where you were.
This Epic Japanese Bottle Shop
Now there’s a Japanese bottle shop in Umami Mart with America’s largest Japanese beer selection, 30 sake brews and more than 50 unusual beers including Hitachino’s full line and a miso lager. So Oakland can check that off its list.
