Your Perks: 1) A monthly subscription to get world-class cigars delivered to your door. Smoke ’em ’cause you’ve got ’em. 2) Jay Z–approved bubbly for you to toast with this New Year’s. 3) One of these vintage watches. Or two of these vintage watches. You’ve got enough wrists.
Things to do for December 18, 2014
Pinup Girls. Sales. Weekend.
Take your shoes off before you come in the weekend.
Pinup Girls on Postcards. About Time.
First, Gil Elvgren famously painted a bunch of pinup girls from the ’30s to the ’70s. Then, Taschen put 50 of those paintings on these postcards that are sure to entertain the recipient. And probably the mailman.
The Hill-side Fabric Store, Now Real
Chances are, you enjoy the Hill-side’s clothes. And hey, wow. They have their own online fabric store now. Which means you can pick up fabrics like their indigo-dyed sashiko and tweed lambswool by the yard. And then make your own clothes. Or just touch them and smile.
Time to Drink Nog and Read Books
You could go to the bookstore, ask the clerk for a list of the year’s best books, see if they’d offer a paragraph-long description of why that’s the case and then ask them to filter everything by category. But then you’d be a jerk because NPR already did all that here.
In Case You Missed It...
On Kempt: Memorize these dos, don’ts and maybes before attending the office holiday party. And come, witness the
necessary winter gear for all temperatures.
On Driven: The already-advanced line of McLarens is getting even advanced-ier. And welcome to the sexy pseudo car-rental service called the “Fast Toys Club.”
About Your Sales: These Are Your Sales
Rooney: Everything’s on sale.
And if you use code “HOLIDAY,” you’ll get 25% off... that.
Unis: You have until midnight tonight to get 20% off their gift stuff. The universe is trying to tell you something.
Ernest Alexander: Up to 40% off button-downs, ties and getaway bags. Holiday getaways, not diamond heist getaways.
